You’ve probably noticed (I hope!) that my blog posts went from a slow trickle over the summer, to a full-on-screeching halt. No, I didn’t suddenly lose my taste for sugar. Yes, my oven still works. Yes, I had a fridge full of beautiful summer-time produce beckoning, or possibly taunting, me each and every day to be made into something tasty… But, I just couldn’t. All-day morning sickness does put a damper on things, especially my appetite.
That’s right! Come midwinter, there will be yet another mouth to feed at my house, and hopefully this one will share my passion for food (unlike my two older sons!). We are very excited and just a wee bit daunted by the idea of having three kids, but I know we can do it. Thanksgivings will be louder, and I will have yet another little, dimpled hand to bat away from the chocolate chips as I make cookies… But, for me, this is what life is all about.
I promise to begin posting once more when I’m able to stomach cooking (and eating) again. It’s been 2 months (seriously) since I’ve touched the stove. Fortunately, I am taking baby steps in the right direction. A little snack of raw veggies with yogurt-ranch dip here, a nibble of fresh honey-cake there, and just maybe a very small bite of chicken curry to test my strength. To my future baby ‘Sweet Pea’: stay warm and snug in there, and I promise there will be lots of adventures in butter & sugar in your future.

Huge congratulations, Jessie! I wondered why we hadn't heard from you for a while! I am sure you will be busy in your kitchen again, as soon as you feel up to it! I will keep my fingers crossed for a wiling little helper for you 😉 x

Congratulations! I started reading (or rather, added you to my RSS feed in anticipation of future recipes) when you posted the recipe for the cherry-lime rickey.
I'm hoping that your morning sickness subsides and that you'll be able to enjoy the remainder of your pregnancy with energy and food! 🙂

Thank you, Louise! It was certainly a quiet summer for my kitchen! Lots of Thai take out for my husband and jam toast for me! I'm loving your recent post on figs- I can't wait until I can eat again to try them!

Thank you for your very kind wishes! I feel a little guilty with my lack of posts, but it's heartening to hear that you like what's already there! I can't wait to get back into the kitchen again!
