We make honey cakes to mark the Jewish New Year, or Rosh Hashanah. It’s a time of celebration, of family coming together, and… Well… Eating!

I feel like this cocktail glass photo is like a scene from a grown up version of Alice in Wonderland! This was one of the harder set ups to style and shoot for us this year, but I love a good challenge!

Playing with the concept while keeping our light & bright style (without losing the shape & outlines of the glassware) was super tricky. With lots of tweaks and thought, I am just thrilled with this image from my “The Best Food Styling Props for the Beginner Food Photographer” post on my blog (go read now!).

If you have a basil plant out on the patio like I do, that is giving its all before the change of seasons, it’s time to make this drink!

With layers of balanced rounded flavors, my Solstice Grapefruit Basil Smash is the right way to toast the last of the summer sunshine! ☀️

I approach cocktail making like I do cooking… with flavor and balance being the most crucial elements in my drink creation.
