I’ve already shared my fun list of top foodie-related gifts for 2019 in my last post….
But if giving gadgets and appliances isn’t your style, and instead you love to send delicious goodies for family & friends to share, I hear you! Some of my favorite gift ideas are edible treats from around the country (and sometimes – the world!). There’s something exciting about unwrapping a box filled with new-to-you foods; it’s the perfect way to share the holiday spirit!
I’ve included some of my personal favorites, running the gamut from savory to sweet treats. I’ve ordered from all of these places, and can vouch for their quality, shipping, and yumminess. This year, my list consists of American and Canadian food creators that span the two coasts. Enjoy sending a feast to a friend, or a fun holiday gift to your own front door!
Do let me know what you order, and if you have any recommendations for next year! I’d love to hear from you in the comments or online (via my Facebook page or Instagram)!
Cheers!
My Foodie Edible Gift List, 2019
1. Lester’s Smoked Meat, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Ships in Canada & the USA
This is not your average gift basket supplier! Your delicious smoked meats, Montreal style bagels, deli mustard, and rye bread will come in a good old cardboard box, and that’s the extent of the decorations. BUT… if you love old school Montreal deli, this is the place to shop! Call them up and place an order. Shazam! Montreal style deli right at your front door! They are one of the only Montreal smoked meat producers with the proper certificates to ship to the USA. I highly recommend them for a holiday feast!
2. Russ & Daughters, New York City, NY, USA. Ships via Goldbelly
If New York Style Deli is your thing, Russ & Daughters is the perfect match for you! Delicious paper thin smoked salmon, whitefish salad, chopped liver, bagels & shmears, rugalach, dried fruits and bialys come fresh & delicious to your door. Well known – even outside of NYC – and operating for over a hundred years, this is my go-to for New Year’s Day breakfasts.
3. Jacobsen Salt, Portland, OR, USA
Founded in 2011, Jacobsen Salt has quickly gained a well deserved cult following. Harvested along the Oregon Coast, they sell mineral rich flake salt and all kinds of grinds. In addition to taste flights of different varieties, they also offer salted caramels, cocktail sets, spice blends, and my favorite, gift sets. Check out their sister company, Jacobsen Honey, for single-source honey as well!
4. Rogers’ Chocolates, Greater British Columbia, Canada. Ships to Canada & the USA
This Canadian chocolate maker was completely new to me! I had a chance to sample some of their ‘Victoria Creams’, while visiting Canada over the summer. I highly (HIGHLY) recommend these for your chocolate loving friends! To say I was blown away would be a gross understatement! Rich, creamy, and filled with the most amazing creams & caramels… I have ordered multiple boxes for friends and relatives. The quality can’t be topped, and the company still dedicates many dollars to local charitable giving, as their founders Leah & Charles Rogers did during their lifetimes. Delectable chocolates with a side of philanthropy? I’m on board! Bonus, they ship internationally and with the current exchange rates, this gift is a delicious bargain.
5. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, locations around the USA
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, headed by Jeni Britton Bauer, is an artisan ice cream shop that will be sure to impress. I stumbled upon her website after reading a foodie article a few years back, and I was hooked. Quality ingredients, unique flavor combinations, and small batches… the fact that they ship all over the country, just sealed the deal for me. Each bright orange gift box is filled with yummy creamy ice creams such as Sweet Potato with Torched Marshmallows, Brambleberry Crisp, Gooey Buttercake, or dairy-free Dark Chocolate Truffle. In addition to the amazing ice creams, Bauer has made it a mission to run her shop in an environmentally conscious manner, with 95% of their servingware being recyclable, reusable, or compostable.
Happy Gifting!
