Orange Paloma

A riff on a traditional Paloma (which usually contains tequila, grapefruit, lime juice, and agave syrup), this bold drink has lovely citrus notes, and a bold tequila punch. Yummy San Pellegrino Aranciata (orange) sparkling water intensifies the natural vibrancy of the fresh orange juice and the lime balances out the sweetness.
Course: Drinks
Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces freshly squeezed orange juice I used a blend of navel & cara cara oranges
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 ounces of silver or blanco tequila I used Don Julio Blanco, yum
  • 1 1/2 ounces of San Pellegrino Aranciata orange sparkling fruit water
  • 1 teaspoon agave syrup or 1 teaspoon of simple syrup
  • ice
  • lime or orange wedges for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill your chosen cocktail glass with ice.
  • In a cocktail shaker (or, for those of us who can't find their cocktail shaker, an empty jelly jar with a lid. Don't judge), combine the lime juice, agave, fresh orange juice, tequila and a few cubes of ice. Close and shake vigorously for 30-60 seconds, or until completely chilled.
  • Poor the mix into your cocktail glass and fill the remaining space with the Aranciata sparkling water.
  • Garnish with a lime or orange wedge.

Optional: You can rim your glass by running a lime wedge around and then dip into sugar or salt (but do it before mixing up and pouring your cocktail!).

    Notes

San Pellegrino Aranciata Rossa (Blood Orange) can be substituted for the orange flavored soda. It's a little sweeter and gives the drink a pinkish color.
